TEMPO.CO, Jakarta PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or PT KAI and PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk launched the Cement Freight Railroad for the Babat-Jakarta Gudang relation.

On the first trip, KAI transported 280 tons or the equivalent of 7 Flat Cars (GD). Furthermore, KAI will serve a volume of 400 tons per day consisting of 10 Flat Cars with a distance of 770.5 kilometers and a travel time of about 14 hours.

“KAI thanked Semen Indonesia Group which has chosen Kereta Api for its cement distribution. This train service is expected to make it easier for Semen Indonesia Group to efficiently manage the logistics chain,” said KAI Commercial Director Dadan Rudiansyah in a written statement, Saturday, October 16, 2021.

Dadan ensures that the distribution of goods by train always prioritizes security, safety and punctuality. In addition, freight transportation by train is also environmentally friendly because one series can transport large quantities of goods.

This cooperation is expected to also encourage other business actors to be able to shift their transportation to rail transportation.
