Raheem Sterling moved to Chelsea in the summer. According to reports by Sam Lee, a journalist for The Athletic, the 28-year-old initially wanted to go to another club.
Ahead of the start of this season, Sterling expressed his desire to leave Manchester City. The winger no longer wanted to play at the Etihad where he did not play a leading role in Pep Guardiola’s puzzle.
In July, Chelsea reached an agreement for the transfer of the England international. The Blues paid around £50m for him.
However, it turns out that the player himself first hoped to return to Liverpool. Sterling played at Anfield between 2010 and 2015.
According to reports from The Athletic, however, Jurgen Klopp did not agree to the transfer of the 28-year-old. The German did not see a place for him in his team, so Sterling eventually went to Chelsea.
Sterling has made 22 appearances for Chelsea this season. He recorded six goals and three assists.
