Rain and coastal phenomena threaten northern Spain this Friday

Rain and alerts for coastal phenomena will predominate this Friday in the northwest and north of the peninsula, which will be affected by the joint action of several fronts, with a predominance of cloudy skies and showers in much of the area, as reported by the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET)which warns of adverse phenomena in seven provinces.

Thus, the coasts of Galicia (A Coruña, Lugo and Pontevedra), Basque Country (Guipúzcoa and Vizcaya), Asturias and Cantabria This Friday they will have a significant risk (orange warning) due to waves, in addition to a yellow alert due to rain in A Coruña and Pontevedra. Likewise, there will be intervals of strong wind and very strong gusts of wind on the coasts of Galicia and Cantabria.

Starting this Friday, abundant showers are expected in Galicia and the eastern Cantabrian Sea, especially in the west of Galicia and the coast of the Basque Country. Meanwhile, the cloud cover will extend towards the southeast, affecting precipitation, in a weaker way, in the Northern plateau, upper Ebro and Pyrenees without ruling out, less likely, surrounding areas.

According to the AEMET, in the Mediterranean area and Atlantic Andalusia Lightly cloudy skies will gradually predominate, with some areas of morning clouds, while in the Canary Islands there will be cloudy intervals in the north of the mountainous islands and light cloudy skies in the rest.

Probable morning mists and fog banks will also be recorded in scattered areas of the southern half and, locally persistent, in the northern mountains. At the end of the day, extensive fog will predominate on the northern Atlantic slope.
