A year and a half after its release in France, the Razer Phone 2 is the subject of a recall procedure and is withdrawn from the stalls. The cellphone gaming has been checked by the National Frequency Agency (ANFR) which measures the specific absorption rate of smartphones sold in France. If the SAR value “head” is well below the bar of 2 W / kg authorized, the waves measured at the level of the trunk reach 3.29 W / kg.
The ANFR then left the possibility to Razer to update its terminal in order to limit its emissions of electromagnetic waves. The California-based company said the agency was choosing the option to withdraw from the market and recall previously sold units. The recall procedure runs from May 8 to October 8, 2020 and customers who want to have their cell phone taken back can contact Razer using their contact form. An exchange or refund will be offered to them according to the ANFR.
Exceedances of the authorized emission ceiling are regularly pointed out by the ANFR. In April, a report indicated that out of 74 mobiles tested, 8 displayed a SAR higher than the standard. Among these faulty models, 5 have been updated by their manufacturer and have returned to the legal emission limit. The rest were also subject to recall and withdrawal procedures.
