Even if the next transfer window will logically be a little quieter than the last summer markets, some highly rated players still have a good chance of changing clubs for a substantial check. This is the case of Paul Pogba, Lautaro Martinez or Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for example. French defender Dayot Upamecano was also on this list. And if we use the past, it is because this soap opera has finally taken an unexpected turn.
Indeed, in recent weeks, the 21-year-old has been announced in practically all the big European teams, from Real Madrid to FC Barcelona via the two Manchester clubs, in addition to Bayern Munich who even seemed to be holding the rope. With a release clause of 60 million euros, a relatively affordable amount for European cadors, and a contract which expires in 2021, the RB Leipzig was anything but a strong position on this issue.
Upamecano to extend by one year
But the latest information from Sky Sport Germany came to turn everything upside down. According to the German media, the Frenchman will not join Bavaria this summer, and will not join any other club for that matter. Thus, he will extend his contract by one season with the team of the Red Bull empire, until 2022 therefore. A transfer to a large European team is therefore not current today.
The main concerned would be convinced that he can continue to progress within the German team, and that he does not necessarily have any interest in leaving this summer. The media still specifies that a release clause facilitating a possible exit in 2021 has been included in the new contract which should therefore be signed in the coming days. Many sports managers will therefore have to turn to new tracks to strengthen their defense!
