Real Madrid crossed Vallecano with a brace on the night of Vinicius’ support

La Liga

Real Madrid won 2-1 at home to Rayo Vallecano in the 36th round of the Spanish Football League, today, Wednesday, in a match in which fans and players showed their support for the Brazilian Vinicius Junior, who was subjected to new racist abuse at the weekend.

“We are all Vinicius, enough is enough,” read a banner behind one of the two goals at the Santiago Bernabéu, while Real Madrid players took to the field wearing shirts bearing the number 20 of the Brazilian player. The captains of both teams wore armbands bearing anti-racism slogans.

Karim Benzema scored the first goal after half an hour from close range before Raul de Tomas equalized for Rayo with six minutes remaining. Rodrigo scored the winning goal in the last moments.

The remaining matches of the stage that were held today resulted in Villarreal defeating its guest Cadiz 2-0, while Elche tied with its guest Seville 1-1.

Real Madrid, which lost to Valencia in the last stage, rose to 74 points in second place, 11 points behind Barcelona (leader), who won the title this season.

Real Madrid is two points away from its archrival Atletico Madrid, third-placed, who may regain the runner-up again, if it beats Espanyol later in the day at the same stage.

On the other hand, Rayo Vallecano’s balance, which suffered its third consecutive loss, stopped at 46 points in eleventh place.
