Pep Guardiola admits that the replacement of Vincent Kompany will be almost impossible.
The boss of the City, who celebrated his sixth trophy in the last two years with the FA Cup, wins over Watford, says that Kompany's influence on the field and in the dressing room will be seriously missed.
"When Vincent was in good shape, he took such an important role in our team – unfortunately sometimes it never happened – but every time he played, he did it with pride, passion and desire," said Pep.
"This club is what it is because of some of our great former players like Mike Summerbee, Tony Book, Francis Lee and Colin Bell but since Sheikh Mansour took over and Khaldoon became president, so has a new era of players that they helped change the destiny club.
"Joe Hart, Vincent Kompany, Sergio Aguero, Yaya Toure and David Silva – are incredible players who have helped this club take a huge step forward.
"Vincent helped this club achieve so much before I came and when I got here, we tried to do it together with all the other people to try to maintain that position and create a new story.
"His spirit was unbelievable; it was so important for us in the last weeks of this season and against Leicester he shot with the real desire to score that goal.
"It will be so difficult to replace Vinnie. All are all and have their strengths, but Vincent is special. For all the times he gave a speech to the boys or talked passionately about something, he believed in him, his departure will be a great loss.
"We will miss him. I will miss him very much. Of course, I wish him the best in the next phase of his life, but he is an incredible part of this football team and will remain so forever."
