Former presidential candidate of Belarus Svetlana Tikhanovskaya never participated in the development of plans to seize government buildings in Gomel, as she always supported only peaceful methods of protesting. This was reported to RBC by the press secretary of the politician Anna Krasulina.

“Svetlana Tikhanovskaya has never participated in the development of such plans. The posted video shows that she left the room so as not to continue the discussion. And, as more than 200 days of Belarusian protest show, Svetlana Tikhanovskaya and her team supported only peaceful methods, ”the press secretary said.

At the same time, Krasulina stressed that some of the protesters have always been and continue to be focused on radical measures.

Investigative Committee of Belarus accused Tikhanovskaya’s associates of preparing the capture of Gomel

Formerly the Investigative Committee of Belarus statedthat persons from Tikhanovskaya’s inner circle were preparing to seize administrative buildings in Gomel. According to the UK, to implement the plan, they were going to involve former military personnel, employees of the internal affairs bodies and the Ministry of Emergency Situations. The department also published a video recording of the meeting where Tikhanovskaya was present. It discussed plans for riots and “seizure of buildings.”

Thousands of protests in Belarus began after the August 9 presidential elections. According to the CEC, election victory won the current president of the republic, Alexander Lukashenko, gaining more than 80% of the vote. The protesters and the opposition do not recognize these results, they demand the resignation of Lukashenka and a new vote. Russia recognized the results of the elections. Lukashenka himself stated that the protests are the result of the work of Western special services.
