This year, Riga’s 819th birthday will be celebrated from August 14 to 16. The festival is planned without frequent events and fireworks, the Riga City Council informed.

This year, Rigans and guests of the city are invited to take leisurely walks, get to know their Riga, visit different parts of the city, meet with their favorite performing artists, go on excursions with friends, enjoy the hospitality of the capital’s restaurants and cafes, and participate in sports activities.

However, unlike other years, this year there will be no big, large-scale events on the waterfront and in the central squares of the city, the fireworks display, which is always in full swing, will be missed.

Visitors to the festival will have the opportunity to visit one of the many venues and take part in more than 50 different festivities in the city streets, parks and squares, canal bank, cultural centers, as well as watch concerts live on the screen located in the Dome Square.

This year, the organizers of the festival invite you to go on exploratory, relaxing, surprising and musical walks around the Old Town, the city center, Art Nouveau Riga, New Teika and along the city canal. Unlike other years, the festival visitors will be able to enjoy mobile and acoustic concerts in the center of Riga and its surroundings – Sarkandaugava, Jugla, Arkadia Park, Āgenskalns, Imanta, Kalnciems quarter and elsewhere in the city. An interesting and exciting holiday program for children will take place in Spīķeri, but together with parents, babies are also welcome at the Big Picnic in Mežaparks, the Aviation Festival in Spilva and other events.

The organizers of the festival call on the organizers and visitors of the events to follow the national restrictions and recommendations regarding the spread of Covid-19.

The Riga Festival program and current events will be available to anyone interested from the beginning of August on the website www.rigassvetki.lv. Also this year, an information tent will be located at the “Laima” clock and booklets of the holiday program will be available at tourist information centers and event venues.
