The National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) reports thirteen deaths in the daily update on Friday. The smallest number of hospital admissions (9) has also been reported in nearly ten weeks.
The total number of deaths has increased to 5,788. The number of people who have been or have been hospitalized in total is now at 11,649.
Nine is the smallest number of new hospital admissions since at least March 14, when RIVM reported 21 admissions. The number of reports may be lower due to the long Ascension weekend. There is usually a delay in reporting on weekends.
On Thursday, RIVM reported 27 new deaths and 13 new hospital admissions.
To date, 44,888 confirmed COVID-19 patients have been reported to RIVM, an increase of 188 from a day earlier.
Actual numbers are higher because not all COVID-19 patients are tested. The cabinet aims to ensure that everyone with complaints can be tested as easily as possible from 1 June.
