Russia demands a visa for Lavrov – DELFI

This was announced by the country’s propaganda news agency Interfax, citing the Russian ambassador to the United States, Anatoly Antonov.

“We can safely say that we would like to see Sergey Viktorovich Lavrov at the UN General Assembly,” said V. Antonov.

According to him, in recent years, the United States has “repeatedly caused difficulties for Russian diplomats when they go on working visits.”

“The embassy has already appealed to the White House and the State Department with the demand to immediately issue visas to the minister and all members of the Russian delegation,” noted the Russian ambassador.

According to him, many are turning to Russian diplomats with the question of whether S. Lavrov will come to New York. The ambassador did not specify who those “many” are.

“Therefore, it is safe to say that many would like to see S. Lavrov in the General Assembly. I will remind you about his recent visits to Asia and Africa: they were waiting for him there, they wanted to meet”, said A. Antonov.

The 77th session of the General Assembly will be held from 13 to 27 September in New York.

With the help of Russia in February war in Ukraine US President Joe Biden’s administration has approved sanctions against Russian President Vladimir Putin and Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
