Russia organizes evacuations from the occupied territories in the south of Ukraine / Article

The Ukrainian mayor of Melitopol, Ivan Fedorov, who is staying in Ukrainian-controlled territory, published pictures on Saturday evening of what he said were huge lines of cars entering the Crimean peninsula. There are people who are also taken out in buses, the mayor of Melitopol said on Ukrainian television on Sunday, announcing that at least some of them are being taken out to Russia.

Fedorov pointed out: “Those who get on the buses are told that they will be transferred to the temporarily occupied territory of the Zaporizhia region. They are mostly promised to be taken to Berdyansk or Kirilivka, but they are still taken to the territory of mainland Russia. Indeed, both in Kirilivka and Berdyansk has a huge number of recreation centers and hotels. It is a resort area, but none of these places, the infrastructure is ready to receive people, because it has been practically unused for more than a year. Therefore, today those who the enemy is trying to take out are taken to the territory of mainland Russia. “

There are also reports of people being evacuated from settlements near the Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, including Enerhodar.

Dmytro Orlov, the mayor of Enerhodar, who lives in Ukrainian-controlled territory, said there was currently no evidence that the evacuations were being forced.

Meanwhile, the International Atomic Energy Agency of the United Nations (UN) has expressed concern about the safety of the Zaporizhia station. The general director of the organization, Rafael Grossi, said that the evacuation of residents indicates the possibility of fighting between Ukrainian and Russian forces at the nuclear power plant.

Russia started the war against Ukraine on February 24, 2022, on the orders of Russian President Vladimir Putin. A large-scale offensive failed, Ukraine did not give up and, receiving foreign military assistance, the Ukrainian army managed to stop the invaders and in the autumn also free the Kharkiv region and recover Kherson.

Meanwhile, several analysts are increasingly talking about the upcoming Ukrainian counterattack, and in recent months, various incidents, explosions and drone attacks have also taken place on the territory of Russia, as well as in Belarus, where explosions at the military airfield are taking place.
