Russia: the head of the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the order of friendship from Vladimir Putin

As index.hu notes, relations between Hungary and Russia have developed significantly in recent years. It goes, among others for the construction of the Paks II nuclear power plant by Rosatom and the purchase of the Russian Sputnik-V vaccine. The Hungarians are to receive the technology needed for its production later this year.

However, Péter Szijjártó was the main negotiator of the Hungarian side in negotiations on a new gas agreement with Gazprom. It entered into force in September. Under it, Hungary guaranteed itself supplies for the next 15 years.

We do not perceive Russia as a threat – said the head of the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the May interview for “Dziennik Gazeta Prawna”. – We understand that some countries, like yours or the Baltic states, have security concerns. We must respect them. We are not Poles, we do not live here. (…) But we must recognize that Russia exists and we need some pragmatic form of cooperation with it. We maintain good commercial, industrial and energy relations with it – he explained.
