Šádek: I know how to play football, but I’m not the one who can provide Pilsen with a budget for many years

“I feel great satisfaction. Three months ago Viktorka’s situation was different, now we are going to Bayern. A lot of people envy us. So I don’t know if they will envy us even after the match. I’m proud that we’re in the Champions League, that we made it,” says Viktoria owner Adolf Šádek before the match in Munich.

As expected, the West Bohemians were not enough for the German giant, they took home five goals. Domestic media and fans of other clubs criticize them. “A lot of people probably won’t take it, but we are aware of the strength of our opponents. I have experienced these matches firsthand, sometimes you know from the beginning that you will not be able to beat your opponent. But I take participation in the Champions League as a reward for all the boys who deserved it with the title and promotion through the preliminary rounds. As a club we are back to where we should be. We were in a difficult situation, we got out of it,” Pilsen assistant Pavel Horváth points out in the fifth episode of Miracle from the West, in which owner Šádek expresses his wish that he could find a strong partner for the club.

“By advancing to the Champions League, I was able to solve a lot of things that pushed me into a corner. The club managed to get out of debt, it doesn’t owe a single crown. From this point of view, I have peace of mind to find a strong partner. Pilsen football needs someone who generates money. I know how to play football, but I’m not the one who can provide Pilsen with a budget for many years,” says Šádek on the lawn of Munich’s Allianz Arena.
