Wccftech reports that Nvidia’s RTX 4070 sales are so weak that they are halting production until next month.
The RTX 4070 can be purchased for NOK 7,500
The technology newspaper reports that there were already signs on the eve of April that Nvidia was slowing down production. However, the situation has not improved, so instead of postponing only until the end of the current month, Nvidia will not start until June or later.
At the same time, Nvidia will launch another new 40 card, the 4060 ti 16GB for just over NOK 5,000 converted from dollars – it may be that they want to focus on the cheaper card to seek their luck there. One problem will be that the prices are very similar, another that many may choose a 3070 card which can be bought for just under NOK 6,000.
The RTX 4090 still costs over NOK 21,000
When the RTX 4080 was launched, there were also reports of weak sales and that many chose the top card 4090. The RTX 4080 16GB costs from around NOK 15,000 in Norwegian online stores, while you have to shell out just over NOK 21,000 for an RTX 4090 24GB.
One of the reasons why the expensive 4090 does so well is probably also due to the amount of RAM, which is twice that of the 4080. Many were burned by the first 3080 cards’ sad 10GB, which makes it difficult to run modern games with the best texture detail level. Nvidia later launched a 12GB model and a faster clocked ten model with the same amount of RAM. To secure the future with 4K resolution, 16GB RAM and more is recommended.
