Only in the second half does Liverpool play like a champion

Coach Jürgen Klopp turns away with defending champion FC Liverpool an early Champions League away. When winning in Salzburg, he can rely on his stars in the end. With the Reds also moves the SSC Naples into the second round.
WElite coach Jürgen Klopp and his Liverpool FC have averted the threat of embarrassing preliminary round-off sovereign and even qualified as a group winners for the knockout stages of the Champions League. The defending champion prevailed 2: 0 (0: 0) in an intense encounter with outsiders RB Salzburg and strikes on the way to the final on 30 May in Istanbul initially on a supposedly easier opponents.
A new edition of the previous year's duel with Bayern Munich in the first round of knockout rounds is ruled out because the German record champions have also won Group B. Liverpool prevailed as the winner of Season E before the SSC Naples (at the same time 4: 0 against KRC Genk). Salzburg, which was the first team from Austria to reach the round of 16, will spend the winter in the Europa League.
The former Leipzig and Salzburg Naby Keita with a header (57th) and Mohamed Salah with an art shot almost from the goal line (58th) made Klopp celebrate their lightning strike. RB youngster Erling Haaland was empty for the first time in the Champions League.
Only 192 days after the triumph of Madrid Klopp threatened against brave Austrians as the only second defending champion after Chelsea in the 2012/13 season the preliminary round-off. Accordingly, the former Dortmunder gave on the sidelines as usual everything. He drove on, cheered and – if need be – he talked to the Fourth Official or the Assistant Referee. The goals of his team cheered Klopp as always hilariously.
The hosts pulled at their “game of games” at least off the court all the stops. “We are not Barca or Real, but we are ready for our damned dream! Des is Soizburg! “Was the choreography in white on blue banners, the 29,520 fans in the sold out arena sang to the classic” I am from Austria “by Rainhard Fendrich.
Haaland remains pale
When the Champions League anthem sounded, Haaland had a grin on his face, after 15 seconds he plunged into the first duel against world star Virgil van Dijk – and lost him. The scene set the tone for a very fast-paced encounter in which it went up and down. Klopp built especially on fast counterattacks, Salzburg held with much passion, but also footballing accents against it.
Salah had the early lead on the foot (5th). Liverpool were lucky when shortly after a hand-held game by captain Jordan Henderson in his own penalty area was unpunished. The most striking guest pro was the form-strong ex-Salzburg Sadio Mane, who missed good chances (8/20), but prepared the lead by flank.
The acclaimed Haaland, who had previously scored in all matches, tested Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson in the 24th minute for the first time. Shortly after the break, he forgot the possible 1-0 (51.). Then Liverpool turned on – and Klopp was once again allowed to show his famous cheering fists.
After Liverpool's progress, Chelsea remain the only defending champion to fail in the group stage. This happened to the London club in the fall of 2012, a few months after the final on penalties in Munich against Bayern.
