Top ten awards and 38 finalists were awarded by the Industrial Designers Society of America to the company’s products and services, thanks to its excellence in design that elevates the lifestyle of consumers
Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. recently won 48 awards at the world-renowned International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) 2021, including seven silvers, three bronzes, and 38 finalists.
The IDEA 2021 Awards for Samsung include creative designs in multiple categories that showcase the South Korean brand’s excellence in consumer lifestyle design, from products to interactive and advanced concept.
IDEA, devised and awarded annually by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA), has been in existence since 1980. Widely regarded as the most influential design awards program in North America, IDEA considers innovation in design, benefit to the user and the benefit for society as part of the criteria for the selection of the winners. The ceremony in which the winners were announced was held on September 21.
Samsung won seven Silver Awards for its avant-garde creations:
-Samsung Neo QLED 8K (QN900A): Its Infinity Screen design maximizes immersion by simplifying the bezel.
-Bespoke Cube ™ Air Purifier (AX9500N): embodies the innovative concept of allowing consumers to choose the front panel design of the purifier according to their taste and lifestyle.
-Bespoke Slim (VS6800AL): a vacuum cleaner that offers a slim and customizable format that fits in a small space.
-SmartThings Cooking – A unique culinary experience powered by Whisk’s food AI.
The following received Bronze awards:
-The Frame, a lifestyle TV that can be combined with any home décor and features “Art Mode”, which offers viewers to enjoy the masterpieces from their homes.
-The Premiere, a lifestyle projector designed for those who want to create a theater-like environment at home.
-Bespoke 4-Door Flex Refrigerator, which helps consumers achieve a desired home everyday life through flexible and personalized offers.
“The pandemic affected consumers’ lifestyles in many ways, making it more important than ever to keep an eye on how they change and consequently deliver meaningful experiences to consumers,” said Dontae Lee, Executive Vice President and Leader of the Center for Corporate Design at Samsung Electronics. “We will continue to provide optimized experiences for consumers based on a variety of ways of living and with the design that best suits them.”
The IDEA 2021 Ceremony took place virtually on September 21. The International Design Conference was also held online from September 22 to 23.
