In Schorndorf, Baden-Württemberg, a group of around 15 to 20 people destroyed an AfD information stand about the state election. A party member was injured in the confrontation on Saturday and was taken to a hospital by ambulance, as the Aalen police and the Stuttgart public prosecutor announced.
The group is said to have attacked the AfD members immediately. “The group was assigned to the Antifa scene because of the flags and banners that were carried with them,” says the Notification of the authorities. The AfD member, who was later treated in the hospital, is said to have been thrown to the ground and beaten, and the 36-year-old’s cell phone was torn from his hands when he tried to dial the emergency number.
Then the attackers fled, leaving the AfD stand completely destroyed. Police later arrested five suspects between the ages of 18 and 25. The Stuttgart public prosecutor and the Waiblingen criminal investigation department began investigations.
AfD politician publishes photo on Twitter
The Baden-Württemberg AfD member of the Bundestag Jürgen Braun published the name of the party member – Stephan Schwarz – including a photo of the person concerned at the AfD stand in Schorndorf, according to Braun, the picture was taken on the Saturday morning before the attack. Braun wrote on Twitter that the attackers hit and kicked him with sticks, even when he was lying on the ground.
On Sunday, a photo was also posted on Schwarz’s Twitter account showing an ambulance at the crime scene in Schorndorf. Among other things, the broken stand can be seen behind a barrier tape, as well as AfD information material scattered on the floor. After the Twitter entry, which according to the abbreviation was not created by Schwarz himself, Schwarz is still in the hospital. He thanked him for the numerous recovery wishes.
