The Italian football federation officially suspended Monday until Sunday, June 14, inclusive of all of its competitions. The possibility of seeing the championship resume on June 13 as the League wished seems highly improbable.
In a press release, the federation explains that it has complied with the provisions of the decree taken Sunday by the head of government in the context of the fight against the coronavirus.
In its press release, the federation specifies however that this choice was made “pending a new and desirable decision of the competent authorities”, which suggests that the possibility of a resumption of the championship on June 13th still exists.
Last week, the Lega Serie A, which brings together the 20 clubs of the first division, had indicated wanting to resume on that date the championship interrupted on March 9.
A meeting is planned in the near future between Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte and the leaders of the federation and the League. The Technical and Scientific Committee which advises the government must also give in the coming days an opinion on the new health protocol proposed by the world of football.
