Sinovac Vaccine Recipients Can Now Do Umrah, The Conditions Are Booster

COVID-19 Vaccine types of Sinovac and Sinopharm have now been recognized by the Ministry of Health of Saudi Arabia. This means that Indonesian citizens who are further vaccinated against both types can perform Umrah.

However, Sinovac vaccine recipients still have to be injected vaccine booster or third vaccine in accordance with the regulations set by the Ministry of Health of Saudi Arabia.

“Sinovac is allowed to enter Saudi Arabia with a note that it adds a booster to a vaccine that is recognized by Saudi Arabia,” said Consul for Hajj at the Indonesian Consulate General in Jeddah, Endang Jumali, in a virtual discussion ‘How are we doing Umrah?’, Tuesday (21/9/2021).

It is known that Saudi Arabia uses Moderna, Pfizer, AstraZeneca, and Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccines as a measure to deal with COVID-19.

“Saudi Arabia has a strict and very effective policy regarding COVID-19. As of today (21/9/2021) there are only 60 cases per day,” said Endang.

Regarding this, the Director General of Health Services at the Indonesian Ministry of Health claimed to have received news regarding booster vaccinations for Umrah for Sinovac vaccine recipients. Therefore, it plans to create a special program COVID-19 vaccination for Hajj and Umrah pilgrims.

“The requirement by Saudi Arabia that we have to have 3 injections with 1 (injection in the form of) booster, of course, we will fulfill before departure,” said Kadir.
