Skier Alexander Bolshunov spoke for the first time about the conflict in Ukraine

Three-time Olympic champion in cross-country skiing, Alexander Bolshunov, in an interview with the Norwegian TV channel TV2, expressed his opinion about the armed conflict in Ukraine.

According to the athlete, in the current situation it is critically important to sit down at the negotiating table and “agree”. Speaking about the reasons for the escalation of the crisis, Bolshunov did not single out any particular culprit.

“If we talk about the situation that has developed in the world now, I believe that all the states involved in the conflict are to blame. First of all, this must stop, world leaders must sit down at the negotiating table and agree on further actions. 25-year-old Alexander Bolshunov is a two-time World Cup winner and winner of the Tour de Ski. At the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, the Russian won five medals, including three gold. At the closing ceremony of the Games, he was the standard bearer of the Russian team.

Bolshunov previously stated that sport should bring people togetherrather than separating them by political affiliation. The titled Russian called on politicians and ordinary residents of Western countries to “stop blaming the Russians for everything.”
