It reveals goalkeeper star Niklas Landin, who is part of the player selection in the club, opposite Western-Posten.
The corona crisis has had significant consequences for Kiel’s finances, and the player selection has in talks with the club agreed to a salary reduction of as much as 50 percent over the next 12 months.
– The club is hard hit. I actually think we are the ones who are hardest hit, because we normally have such large spectator incomes, says Landin.
It does not necessarily have to be the case that 50 percent of the salary disappears.
– We went down in salary the last four months of last season, but we have regained much of what was lost. The club is of course thinking of a “worst case scenario”, and I believe that it will get better during the season, so that we can get something in return, Landin says.
Can lose millions
Sagosen is a new Kiel player after three seasons in French Paris Saint-Germain. As far as NTB knows, he has an annual salary of just under six million kroner, so there is not a small amount that can disappear in corona aid for the Trøndelag resident.
– It is a difficult situation, and it is difficult to accept, but we may have to. However, I sense a support in the squad, even though no one rejoices over losing half of the salary, Landin says about the situation.
Harald Reinkind also plays for Kiel. He will soon start his third season for the Germans. It will probably be the season opener in the super cup final against Flensburg-Handewitt on 26 September. For the opposing team, the Norwegians Torbjørn Bergerud, Gøran Johannessen, Magnus Jøndal and Magnus Abelvik Rød play.
