The surprise found in space – Asteroid Bennu expels the particles

The "Osiris Rex" space probe has created images of the Bennu asteroid: you can see large rocks that could be an obstacle. And the images show something that amazes scientists.
DThe surface of the Bennu asteroid looks like a scree. This can be seen in the images of the space probe "Osiris Rex" published by NASA. Bennu is littered with boulders, many of them over a meter in diameter. In seven research papers of the "Nature" group, the scientists presented new information on Bennu, including close-ups.
It also shows how Bennu actively expels particles in space. "This is one of the biggest surprises of my scientific career," said project leader Dante Lauretta of the Arizona University. According to the research group, some of the particles orbit around the asteroid before returning to its surface.
After about two years and over 650 million kilometers, "Osiris Rex" arrived at the asteroid at the beginning of December. NASA scientists hope to gain knowledge of the origin of our solar system from the mission, which costs about a billion dollars (880 million euros).
The many boulders make it more difficult to take soil samples from Bennu. The probe should approach the asteroid so that it can absorb the samples. Originally there was a place for it, which has no obstacles on a diameter of 50 meters. The researchers have given up this plan because of the rocky subsoil and are looking for a smaller area. In 2023, a capsule is to return to earth with the sample.
The deep black asteroid could get very close to the Earth in over 150 years. Although the risk of impact is very low, Nasa Bennu is one of the most dangerous asteroids currently known.
