Spain reports 434 deaths and 70,965 adverse reactions to the covid-19 vaccine

Spain has reported, until May 8, a total of 434 deaths and 70,965 adverse reactions, of which 12,960 were considered serious, after the administration of 101,369,478 doses of vaccines against covid-19.

This follows from the XV Pharmacovigilance Report on Vaccines against covid-19, the results of which were published this Wednesday by the Spanish Agency for Medicines and Health Products (Aemps).

The report shows that the total of 70,965 adverse events translates into 70 notifications for every one hundred thousand doses administered; 67% of which were communicated by health professionals and 33% by citizens.

In turn, the majority of notifications correspond to women (73%) and people between the ages of 18 and 65 (87%).

Of the total doses administered in the analyzed period, 65% correspond to Pfizer; 23%, to Moderna; 10% to AstraZeneca; and 2% to Janssen.

Regarding Pfizer, no new adverse reactions or new information on adverse reactions already identified have been identified, and, according to the latest balance, 65,862,638 doses have been administered, corresponding to 28,764,023 people.

Until May 8, a total of 38,624 notifications of adverse events were registered after receiving this vaccine, the majority of which correspond to women (74%) and people between 18 and 65 years (83%). Of all the notifications registered, 7,325 were considered serious.

As for the Moderna vaccine, no new adverse reactions or new information on adverse reactions already identified have been identified. Until May 8, a total of 23,733,586 doses of this vaccine were administered in Spain, corresponding to 5,337,609 people, 50% of whom were men and the other 50% women.

In this period, a total of 15,101 notifications of adverse events were registered after the administration of this vaccine, the majority of which are women (72%) and people between 18 and 65 years of age (90%). Of all the adverse event reports received, 2,182 were considered serious.
