The almost 20-year career of William Chiroque were distributed among Peruvian soccer teams, among which Juan Aurich and Sporting Cristal, because with these two clubs he managed to become a national champion. For ‘Periquito’, the celestial painting is the one that left the best impression on him, as he implied with his recent statements.
In interview with The popularChiroque expressed his admiration for the Rímac team, which he even came to compare with the powerful Real Madrid, both for its infrastructure and for its internal organization.
“Talking about Cristal is like talking about Real Madrid. I have the feeling that it is a team like the Europeans because of the capacity of its leaders, infrastructure. I consider it one of the best teams in Peru ”, declared the former driver.
Despite championing as a Rimense footballer in his first stage in the team, the often ex-player confessed that, due to the injuries that afflicted him, he preferred to leave the celestial store having not been able to play many games.
“One day I met with Chemo and some leaders and told them that I did not come to cheat or sit down but to play. That I felt bad about not playing and collecting for free. Chemo told me not to leave the club, that he wanted me to stay a lifetime. That injuries are part of life, but I had already made the decision, “he said to explain his departure from Cristal in 2006.
Memories in the Peruvian national team
At another point in the conversation, ‘Periquito’ recalled some experiences as a member of the ‘Blanquirroja’: “(He lived in the Videna) with Edwin Retamoso. The only people selected who did not have a house in Lima were us ”. Regarding his best match with the ‘bicolor’, he acknowledged that he may be the one who played against Venezuela, for the Copa América 2011, because in that match he scored and achieved third place in the tournament.
Finally, Chiroque he was encouraged to reveal that he currently works as a farmer in his neighborhood of La Pilca, Piura. “I am involved in small projects in my town planting bananas and cacao. I already had it planned. I am from here and I have no problem being on the farm, ”he said.

During his second stage at Sporting Cristal, William Chiroque scored his best goal with the light blue jersey in the 5-2 victory of the Rima club over Real Garcilaso, on the 41st date of the 2013 Decentralized Championship. ‘Periquito’ received the ball from Junior Ross, eluded the mark of three rivals (including the goalkeeper) and defined with a left foot at the angle, unleashing the euphoria of the fans ‘beer’.
