The NHL playoffs are now suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic. A league statement released last week clarified that if the situation changes for the better by April 10, the Gagarin Cup will be resumed.
The CSKA – Dynamo Moscow, SKA – Yokerit, Ak Bars – Salavat Yulaev and Barys – Sibir series were to take place in the quarter-finals of the playoffs. Barys and Yokerit withdrew from the tournament due to the coronavirus.
Last season, Vanguard reached the final of the playoffs, losing in four games to CSKA. In the current Gagarin Cup, the Omsk club in the first round lost to Ufa’s Salavat Yulaev.
