TRIBUNNEWS.COM, JAKARTA – Chinese Ambassador to France, Lu Shaye made a shocking statement to the world regarding China’s view that the sovereignty of the countries of the former Soviet Union did not have effective status under international law.
Lu Shaye’s statement became a controversy that caused concern not only for Ukraine which is being invaded by Russia since last February.
In view of this, the Central Leadership Council of Indonesian Islamic Students (DPP PII) said that the world community should condemn China’s views because they are considered to have violated the sovereignty of a country.
PII DPP Deputy Treasurer, Furqan Raka said the Chinese Ambassador was a reflection of Beijing’s attitude towards countries that China considered as having no international legal status.
“In response to Lu Shaye’s statement, the European Union’s three Baltic countries have summoned Chinese envoys in their respective countries, to ask for an explanation. The three countries, namely Lithuania, Estonia and Latvia,” Furqan told reporters, Friday (5/5) /2023).
The DPP PII considered that it was natural that these countries were angry and asked for an explanation for the Chinese Ambassador’s statement to France. Moreover, Lu Shaye mentioned that there was a history in which Crimea was originally part of Russia and Khrushchev offered Crimea to Ukraine during the Soviet Union period.
“We heard that Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna expressed anger and dissatisfaction with Beijing’s attitude towards his country, as stated by Lu Shaye,” said Furqan.
Based on reports from a number of media, it was stated that the White House accused the President of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, of Russian and Chinese propaganda in which Beijing wanted Russia to avoid defeat.
The Brazilian president is known to have also offered to broker peace, meeting Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Brasília last week, but has never met senior Ukrainian officials.
