The president of a synagogue from the American city of Detroit (north), a woman close to local Democratic Party politicians, was found stabbed to death this Saturday outside her home, police reported.
Authorities, alerted to the situation, discovered that a person “was lying unconscious on the ground” before being “declared dead at the scene,” police said in a statement.
The death comes at a time of growing tension in the Jewish and Muslim communities in the United States over the conflict between Israel and Hamas.
The newspaper Detroit Free Press identified the woman as Samantha Woll, 40 years old.
The first “examinations of the victim’s body revealed multiple stab wounds, so the investigation was handed over to the homicide unit,” the police added, specifying that “the motive for this murder remains unknown.”
