T-Mobile lost 40,000 customers in the first half of the year, but was able to increase sales – MobilMania.cz

Czech T-Mobile published cumulative financial results for the first two quarters of 2020. This period was significantly affected by the coronavirus epidemic. The operator slightly reduced the number of mobile customers, but attracted new ones to the fixed Internet and IP television. Total revenues from mobile and fixed services and equipment sales amounted to CZK 13.7 billion. Operating profit EBITDA decreased slightly by 0.5% year-on-year by more than 4% to CZK 5.643 billion. Gross operating margin was 41.2%.

As of June 30, 2020, more than 6.2 million customers used T-Mobile’s mobile services, leaving the operator the Czech mobile number one. 58% of the total number are contract customers, 34% holders of prepaid cards. The rest falls on M2M SIM cards, the number of which increased by 11% year-on-year to 530 thousand and represents 8% of the entire customer base. If we do not count M2M cards for Internet of Things devices, T-Mobile’s number of approximately 40,000 “human” customers decreased year-on-year.

From the point of view of operational indicators, people in the monitored period used telecommunication services more intensively in order to be in contact with their families and to be able to work remotely. The number of called minutes increased by 11.5% year-on-year, the number of SMS by 32.6% and exceeded 2.6 billion. The total volume of transferred data increased even more significantly: mobile and fixed data transmission by 60% year-on-year, the volume of data transmitted only in the mobile network more than doubled compared to the same period in 2019.
