Taylor Swift performs the new single ME!

Well, it is fair to say that Taylor Swift's highly anticipated appearance at the Billboard Music Awards has not been planned.

The fans have accused the MYSELF! singer of Beyonce's copy during Swift's much-fledged Las Vegas show today.

Beyonce's social media followers – AKA the "Beyhive" – have branded Swift a "pastel pink scam" and have accused it of presenting a "noble" version of Beyonce's record-breaking Coachella set.

Fans emphasized the similarities between which, like Beyonce, Swift starred in a high school musical band and wore overalls.

The Look what you made me do the 29-year-old singer opened the Billboards – held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena – wearing a unique piece with rainbow-colored fringes for the performance of MYSELF!, his duet with Brendon Urie, 32, of Panico! in the disco.

Ironically, the text of Swift's song MYSELF! includes the phrase: "I promise you will never find another like me".

Spectators were not impressed, flooding social media to highlight the comparisons between Swift and Beyonce's performance at Coachella last year – where she became the first black woman to name the festival.

It has been the subject of a special and live Netflix album recently released by Beyonce, Homecoming.

"I don't know if you'll see it, but Taylor Swift is encouraging Beyoncé's Coachella performance right now," a social media follower said.

"Taylor Swift, imma let you finish, but Beyoncé has had the biggest battery of all time," added another.

(This was a reference to Kanye West, who famously interrupted Swift's 2009 MTV Video Music Awards acceptance speech when he won the Best Female Video Award on Beyonce Single Ladies).

Others have accused Swift of lack of originality.

"How dare Taylor Swift copy off of Beyoncé's Homecoming with Marching band !!! Have some originality, you can be inspired, but not just copy directly.

"If Homecoming hadn't come out he wouldn't have done it and we all know it."

Swift had described the performance of his Billboards as a "funny explosion of glitter, pastel colors and people flying in the air" in an interview with Weekly entertainment.

In a US television interview last week, Swift said MYSELF! it was a "song about embracing your individuality, and really celebrating it and owning it".

"With a pop song we have the ability to put a melody stuck in people's heads and I just want it to be something that makes them feel better about themselves."

Last month, Beyonce released a Netflix document, Homecoming: A Film by Beyonce, on his performances at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, nicknamed "Beychella".

"It's my first time at home on stage after giving birth. I'm creating my homecoming and it's difficult," Beyonce said of the performance.

"There have been days when I thought I would never be the same, I would never have been the same physically, my strength and my strength would never have been the same."
