The 75th edition of the Cannes festival, a high mass of world cinema, will take place from May 17 to 28, the organizers announced on Twitter.
The festival has thus corrected the first dates announced at the end of the closing ceremony of the 74th edition last Saturday, during which Titanium by the French Julia Ducournau won the Palme d’Or.
Organizers had said the 2022 festival would take place from May 10 to 21.
Thus, this 75th edition will allow the Festival to reconnect with its usual dates, traditionally located at the end of spring. This year, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the festival took place exceptionally in July.
The 74th edition was marked by the participation of the film “Haut et Fort” by the director and screenwriter Nabil Ayouch, who represented Morocco for the first time in official competition.
Nabil Ayouch’s feature film received the Festival’s Positive Cinema Prize. The director was also awarded the Best Achievement in Cinema prize, recognition for his entire career, which was awarded to him by the humanitarian organization Union-Life International.
A total of 24 films were in the running for the festival’s Palme d’Or.
