A magnitude 6.9 earthquake struck Sumbawa, in the province of West Nusa Tenggara, on Sunday afternoon.
Besides Sumbawa, tremors could also be heard in several cities, including Mataram, Bima and Waingapu.
"The earthquake struck southwest Sumbawa at 13:39 local time", declared the Indonesian meteorological and geophysical meteorological agency (BMKG).
According to the BMKG, the epicenter of the tremor was 884 kilometers south-west of Sumbawa, at a depth of 10 kilometers (about 6.2 miles).
There were no immediate reports of victims or major damage.
In addition, the agency has not issued a tsunami warning.
