Today, Sunday, the Egyptian Club Association approved the start of the new season of the Egyptian Premier League on October 25.
During its meeting, it decided to launch a new championship under the name of the “League Cup” to start in the 2021-2022 season, after presenting its details to the Premier League clubs.
The League has tentatively set next October 5 as the date for the draw for the Premier League.
The association invited club representatives to a meeting next Thursday to present the vision of the new season of the league and whether it will continue with its current system or consists of two groups.
The league clubs may resort to holding the tournament in a two-group system to reduce the number of matches due to the commitments of the Egyptian team, which plays the World Cup qualifiers in October and November, and plays the Arab Cup in December and the African Cup in January.
If the Pharaohs cross to the final stage of the World Cup qualifiers, they will play two decisive matches next March.
The league will start after the end of the Egyptian national team camp, which will face Libya on the 8th and 11th of next October in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
The Pharaohs camp kicks off on Tuesday and they play a friendly Thursday against Liberia.
