The updated data from the daily epidemiological bulletin by the Directorate-General for Health (DGS), presented this Tuesday, indicate that, in the last 24 hours, there were 16 deaths (1.3% increase) and 223 new cases of people infected with Covid-19 (0.76% more in one day).
Portugal has 1,247 fatalities and 29,432 confirmed cases of the new coronavirus since the beginning of the pandemic, with 629 patients being hospitalized in the country, of which 101 are in intensive care (four less than on Monday).
The North region remains the most affected: 16,472 cases and 707 deaths, in the region of Lisbon and Vale do Tejo there are 8,490 infections and 282 deaths; in the Central region 3,644 infected and 282 fatalities.
In Alentejo, where only one mortal victim is registered, there are 245 infected people, while in the Algarve the numbers remained the same as yesterday: 356 infected and 15 deaths.
In the Azores there are 135 infected and 15 registered deaths, while in Madeira there are 90 infected, with no information on deaths.
