Sport Lisboa e Benfica Stadium (Luz, in Lisbon) and Field No. 1 of Benfica Campus, in Seixal, were elected the best of the 25th round of Liga and Liga 2, respectively, announced this Wednesday the Liga Portugal.
The ‘green carpet’ of the reds, leaders of the championship classification, with 68 points – ten points ahead of the runner-up, FC Porto, national champion, who adds up to 58 points – cements, thus, with this new distinction, the first place in the overall season standings.
«A good pitch is, more and more, a determining factor for the quality of the show and, inherently, for the promotion and enhancement of the product.
As such, as this is a topic of utmost importance, Liga Portugal assigns scores to each of the green carpets in the respective matchdays, on a scale of zero to five, promoting a detailed classification», updated throughout the season, details the League, in a note sent to the newsrooms on this day, where it clarifies that the Luz lawn was the only one to deserve the maximum score, of 5 (five) values.
In second place, with regard to the pitches of League clubs in this 25th round, was the ‘quarry’ (Municipal Stadium of Braga), with 4.5 points, while Bessa XXI (Boavista) and the Municipal Stadium of Arouca earned a score of 4 from the League’s evaluators: this round’s game in Barcelos, between Gil Vicente and Sporting, is yet to be played, which will only be played on April 5th.
Even in the global evaluation of the League, in the 25 rounds – to which all phases of the League Cup (Allianz Cup) are added, the pitch of Luz cements the preference for ideal conditions, with an average of 4.75 values, followed by Alvalade (Sporting), with 4.64 values and Cidade de Barcelos Stadium (Gil Vicente) close the podium, with 4.58 of average evaluation.
In 14 games of the 2022/23 League at Luz (plus League Cup), Benfica’s accumulated points are 66.50 points, an average of 4.75 values, to 69.92 points at Estádio José Alvalade (Sporting) in 15 matches this season, an average of 4.75 values, with Estádio Municipal de Barcelos quoted with an accumulated 59.50 points in 13 League games in the current season, an average of 4.64 values.
In fourth comes Estádio do Dragão (FC Porto), with an accumulated of 65.50 points in 15 home matches of the dragons in this championship, at an average of 4.37 points per game
In Liga 2, the pitch of Field N.º1 of the Benfica Campus was also elected the best of the 25th round and consolidated, likewise, the accumulated in the general classification of the current season, having collected the best score of the round, 4.88 values.
In second place in Liga 2, was the pitch of the Algarve Estádio de São Luís (Farense), with 4.25 values, and in third five stadiums, all tied with a score of 4: Estádio Municipal do Fontelo (Académico de Viseu), the Marcolino de Castro Stadium (Feirense), João Cardoso Stadium (Tondela), 25 de Abril Municipal Stadium (Penafiel) and José Gomes Stadium (Reboleira, Amadora).
In the general ranking, which also includes all League Cup games, the ‘green carpet’ of the red team B, led by Luís Castro, leads the accumulated ranking of the season, with an average of 4.88 values/game, followed by Tondela’s usual venue as a visitor, Estádio João Cardoso, with 3.81 values, with Estádio Nacional (Caxias, Oeiras) – stage of B SAD games – was elected the third best of the round, with 3.80 points .
In the overall ranking for 2022/23, the 15 games played at Benfica Campus have already accumulated 69.75 points (average of 4.65 points per game), with Benfica B leading the standings, followed by Estádio João Cardoso , in Tondela, with 45.75 points in 12 games (average of 4.65/game), in second place, and Estádio Nacional, with 14 games already played there and an accumulated score of 53.12 points, the average of 3.80 points per meeting.
