This Sunday is the French national holiday, and between the holidays, is the military parade on the most famous street in the world: the Champs Elysees. This year the parade is under the sign of European military cooperation, one of the great battle horses of Emmanuel Macron, who will preside over the celebrations in the presence of several European leaders, including Charles Michel or Angela Merkel. The parade also aims to greet all the military operations that France has conducted in cooperation with its European neighbors. Representatives of the troops from Germany, Denmark, Spain, Estonia, the Netherlands, Great Britain, and of course Belgium, will march alongside the French armed forces.
Here is the complete program of this show on July 14, 2019 and the third parade for the President, Emmanuel Macron:
10 am: Emmanuel Macron will descend the Avenue des Champs-Elysées aboard a "command car" before joining the presidential platform, installed Place de la Concorde. Charles Michel arrived shortly after.
10:35: beginning of the opening air show. The Belgian F-16s will participate together with other aircraft of the German, British, Portuguese and Spanish fleets.
10h45: it is the turn of the ground troops to march on the Champs Elysees. The soldiers of the 12th line of Spa Line will take part in their flag, 100 years after having participated for the first time in this parade of the French National Day. Since it is a question of honoring the armies of the countries belonging to the European intervention initiative, the military of the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Spain, Finland, Estonia, Germany, Portugal and Denmark parade alongside them and those of the French troops.
11:25: Parade of helicopters
half past eleven: Motorized parade
11:40: the parade of this French national holiday will end with the passage of the republican guard cavalry regiment and a tribute to the wounded of the armies.
Yellow jackets arrested on the Champs Elysees
So much for the order of the protocol. While this parade is subjected to heavy police surveillance, many appeals for the protest were born on Facebook among the Yellow Vests movement. Some of the leaders of this movement were arrested on the sidelines of the opening of the show.
