Los big operators of telecommunications have resumed this summer one of their strategies of the past: terminals at zero cost or subsidized to attract new customers thanks to a wide range of discounts that reaches a maximum of 1,160 euros in the case of one of the Samsung foldables in Movistar.

Thus, the ‘blue’ operator is at the forefront in terms of offering free telephones with 29 mobile phones -to which should be added other types of devices ranging from consoles to cleaning robots-, according to a study by the price comparator Kelisto, advanced by THE WORLD. Then it is located Vodafone, with 13 terminals. The operator unleashed hostilities in the market two weeks ago with the launch of a promotion for free terminals to try to correct its commercial course.

One of the companies that responded quickly to the initiative of the British operator is Orangewhich, on the one hand, offers 12 free phones with its mobile-only rates, and on the other, it has launched a summer promotion with discounts of up to 360 euros in the purchase in installments of their devices. The French operator has established itself in recent years as the leader in the sale of electronic equipment, which has helped it add revenue.

Traditionally, the large telecommunications operators have always used subsidized mobile phones as a claim to differentiate themselves from the operators low cost, which cannot support this type of ‘aid’ on their margins. In fact, no brand oriented to this segment has discounts above 100 euros to buy mobile phones. Additionally, the discounts are coupled with a payment in installments that fluctuates in most operators between 24 and 30 months, which forces the user to be a customer of the operator for that period or pay for the phone in one payment, sometimes without a subsidy. In the case of Movistarthe term increases up to 48 months if you want to get the biggest discount.
