The Circle is getting closer to maintenance, Mechelen at the gates of the play-offs 2

The Cercle de Bruges welcomed OHL this Saturday afternoon as part of the 33rd day of the Pro League. Reduced to 10 in the first half, the Bruges residents won 3-0 against the invisible Leuven.

At the end of the season, each point is worth its weight in gold. The Cercle must win to distance Mouscron and thus stay in the Pro League, while the Louvanistes are fighting to integrate the top 8 and the play-offs 2.

And it is the locals who fit the best in the meeting by putting a lot of pressure on OHL which is holding on.

Shortly after half an hour, a hard blow for the people of Bruges and Kevin Hoggas who gets kicked out for giving a blow to the face ofIsaac Asante (0-0, 33′). Despite their inferiority, the Cercle took the advantage just before the break thanks to Farm Power who take advantage of a mess in the opposing rectangle (1-0, 44 ‘). Logical score at half-time in view of the good performance of Green and Black.

On returning from the locker room, after a bad recovery from Xavier Mercier, Farm Power planted his second goal of the game and placed the Circle in a comfortable situation (2-0, 56 ‘). A quarter of an hour from the end, Jérémy Taravel puts an end to the hopes of the Universities by scoring the goal of 3-0.

With this victory, the Cercle de Bruges took a big step towards maintaining it and forced Mouscron to achieve the feat this Monday evening against Antwerp. For its part, OHL loses precious points and sees the play-offs 2 move away.

Early in the evening, Mechelen won 4-2 against Zulte Waregem in torrential rain. This result allows the Malinwa to place themselves at the gates of play-offs 2, in ninth place. The Blood and Gold count 45 points, one less than their opponents of the day.

Nikola Storm opened the scoring deservedly in the first period on a cross from Kerim Mrabti (1-0, 30 ‘), before putting the cover back on 3 minutes later. On a good deep ball Rob Schoofs, Storm scores with a tackle (2-0, 33 ‘).

Back from the locker room, Zulte manages to get back into the game thanks to Gianni Bruno who takes a second ball from a corner (2-1, 64 ‘). A short-lived joy for the visitors, the striker Ferdy Druijf scoring the 3-1 goal a minute later (3-1, 65 ‘).

The Essevee does not give up. Gianni Bruno, again, scores his 19th goal of the season and gives hope to Zulte Waregem (3-2, 78 ‘). But again, Mechelen reacts directly via Igor De Camarago at the end of a superb collective movement (4-2, 80 ‘).

At the end of the meeting, Gianni Bruno can afford a hat-trick but places his penalty above the goal of Yannick Thoelen.
