“The Communist Party of the Communists of Russia” (CPKR) demands to stop showing the series “Zuleikha opens her eyes”, which goes on the TV channel “Russia”. The appeal will be delivered tomorrow, said Maxim Suraikin, chairman of the Central Committee of the party.
“Any libel to the Soviet past is a spit in the face of our entire Russian people,” Suraikin quotes the publication “Rise”. “These gentlemen, being anti-Soviet, are trying to drag any facts that would allow to tarnish the Soviet past.”
He stated that the state should intervene and ban the series. The legal department of “Communists of Russia” is preparing an appeal demanding to stop the show, which is scheduled to be transmitted to the TV channel on April 16.
The premiere of the series “Zuleikha opens her eyes” based on the novel by the writer Guzely Yakhina of the same name took place this week. The main role in it is played by Chulpan Khamatova. The novel tells about the dispossession and life of the Tatars in the 30s of the XX century. The novel received several literary awards and was translated into 34 languages. However, after the release of the series, they began to criticize him for historical inaccuracies.
