CHICAGO (AP) – Another "Empire" actor was arrested in Chicago, but this time for a traffic-related crime.
Police spokeswoman Karie James said on Monday that Bryshere Gray, who plays a younger brother of Jussie Smollett's character in the Chicago Fox TV show, was dragged on Thursday because a temporary plaque did not match the 2014 Rolls Royce he was driving. He claims to have been arrested with a charge for violation of the crime and to have received a ticket to drive an uninsured vehicle and not having a driving license.
James says the 25-year-old Gray is not in custody, but it wasn't immediately clear when he was released.
Smollett was arrested at the start of this year on charges of lying to the police when he claimed to have been the victim of a racist and homophobic attack in January. Later, prosecutors abandoned the charges.
