(CNN) – The FBI has asked citizens to help locate a 32-year-old man who, they say, is running away with his 3-year-old son after allegedly killing the child’s mother.
The child is believed to be in danger, police said.
A state felony arrest warrant accuses Jorge Ernesto Rico-Ruvira of a murder charge, after he allegedly murdered a woman in New Mexico and left with his young son, the federal agency said in a press release published on January 10 by the Roswell Police Department.
Officers found the 27-year-old victim, identified by the police department as Isela Mauricio-Sánchez, on January 7.
A federal arrest warrant for illegal flight was also issued to prevent prosecution, according to the press release.
The authorities described Rico-Ruvira as a Hispanic man with brown hair and brown eyes, 1.76 meters tall and around 68 kilos.
He is a Mexican citizen, according to the statement, and “may have fled to Mexico, where he has family in the areas of Zacatecas and Jalisco.”
Police say it is believed that he was in a brown GMC Yukon truck.
The Roswell Police Department also describes the boy as a Hispanic man, approximately 0.7 meters with brown hair and brown eyes.
He was last seen on January 5, according to a press release from Amber Alert.
“It is unknown what Osiel was wearing for the last time,” the statement said. “Osiel Ernesto Rico is missing and is believed to be in danger if he is not found. It is believed to be in the company of Jorge Rico-Ruvira. ”
“(Anyone with information) can now call the Missing Persons Information Center of the New Mexico Department of Public Safety at 1-800-457-3463. You can also call the Roswell Police Department at (575) 624-6770, ”said the police department.
