March 23 this year marks the 22nd anniversary of the premiere of “In Desert and Wilderness”. The film is still enjoyed by viewers to this day. See how the actors who played the leading and supporting roles have changed.
On March 23, 2023, the film adaptation of Henryk Sienkiewicz’s novel “In Desert and Wilderness” had its world premiere. The film was directed by South African Gavin Hood. It is worth mentioning that this was not the first screening of this work. In 1973, “In Desert and Wilderness” was also directed by Władysław Ślesicki. A year later, a four-episode series of the same title appeared. Ślesicki was also responsible for its production. To this day, viewers are divided into two camps – supporters of the film adaptation from 50 years ago and the younger, 22-year-old one. Today, however, we will deal with the second of these.

In Gavin Hood’s film, Karolina Sawka and Adam Fidusiewicz played the main characters of the story, i.e. Nel Rawlinson and Staś Tarkowski. The film brought recognition especially to the young actor, who from year to year enjoyed new roles. Fidusiewicz got involved in “Na Wspólnej”, later we saw him, among others. “In Time of Honor”, “The Bells of War” or “Bodo”. Karolina Sawka was only ten years old when she entered the production plan. After the adventure with “In Desert and Wilderness”, she did not end her acting career. She was last seen in the 2017 film Soyer.
