Influenza vaccination of the adult population will soon begin in the hospitals of the Vladimir region. Experts emphasize that due to the coronavirus pandemic, getting a flu shot is now especially important
On September 2, 183,844 doses of influenza vaccine were received at the pharmacy warehouse of the Vladimir region. For now, only for adults. The vaccine is quadrivalent, meaning it is designed to protect against four different types of influenza viruses. The product contains current strains of influenza based on the epidemiological forecast of the World Health Organization.
Rospotrebnadzor specified that vaccines containing influenza virus strains relevant for the future epidemic season, recommended by the World Health Organization, are used to immunize the population:
A/Hong Kong/2671/2019 (H3N2);
B/Washington/02/2019 (B/Victoria lineage).
Previously, these strains did not have active circulation in Russia, which is why prophylactic immunization is necessary.
Experts emphasize that this season, by getting vaccinated against the flu, a person not only protects himself from this disease and its serious complications, but also reduces the risk of contracting coronavirus, since the flu significantly weakens the immune system.
In the Vladimir region, it is planned to cover 60% of the population with vaccinations, and 75% in risk groups. During the vaccination campaign, special attention will be paid to children, pregnant women, people with chronic diseases, people over 60, doctors, education workers, transport and housing and communal services.
In the near future, the influenza vaccine will be delivered to medical organizations in the region.
The optimal time for influenza vaccination is the period from September to November – it is necessary that the immunity after the flu shot has time
to form before the onset of an epidemic rise in incidence.
Rospotrebnadzor conducts laboratory monitoring of the circulation of ARVI and influenza. At the moment, on the territory of Russia, there is a low incidence of acute respiratory viral infections caused by respiratory viruses of non-influenza etiology (parainfluenza viruses, adenoviruses, RS viruses, etc.).
