LOS ANGELES – A former Stan Lee company manager has been indicted in California with five allegations of abuse of the elderly involving the defunct Marvel Comics mind.

A request for a restraining order filed last year by Lee's alleged daughter, Keya Morgan, was manipulating the mentally declining Lee, preventing him from seeing family and friends, and trying to take control of his money and business.

The crime charges filed Friday by Los Angeles County prosecutors against 43-year-old Morgan include theft, embezzlement, counterfeiting or fraud against an elderly adult and false detention of an elderly adult. A count of the crime also implies the abuse of the elderly.

The charges date back to June, when Morgan worked closely with Lee, who died in November.

A warrant was issued for Morgan's arrest. His lawyer, Alex Kessel, said that Morgan is not guilty.

Opinion: The superhero Stan Lee fought for justice and diversity with relativable comics characters

"He never abused or took advantage of Mr. Lee in any way," Kessel said in an e-mail. "We expect it to be completely exempt from all charges."

In June, Lee's 95-year-old lawyers and his daughter Joan C. Lee received a restraining order against Morgan who banned contact with Lee and revealed that the police were investigating Morgan for elder abuse.

Lee, co-creator of characters like Spider-Man, Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk, has been the face of Marvel Comics for decades. His cameos, which are still emerging after his death in films like "Avengers: Endgame", are an element loved by the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
