Mexico City, April 6 (EconomíaHoy) .- In the Official Journal of the Federation (DOF) An agreement was published detailing the specific essential activities of the industrial sector, that is, those activities that will not stop in the face of the coronavirus contingency in Mexico.
At a press conference, Hugo López Gatell Ramírez, Undersecretary for Prevention and Health Promotion, asked companies in this sector to show solidarity and maintain the necessary hygiene and health measures to prevent an increase in cases of coronavirus.
“We ask companies to understand that this is an extraordinarily important moment. We have to reduce work activity to a minimum. ”
He indicated there has been concern by different economic sectors “we have made it clear that we do not have any prejudice against any economic activity, and if we did not have a health emergency, we had better not stop.”
“This is the time to stay home, to adapt the conditions for working at home.”

In this sense, steel, cement and glass production companies are mentioned, as well as information technology services.
“The steel, cement and glass production companies will maintain a minimum activity that avoids irreversible effects on their operation” is indicated in the document and must “maintain extraordinary actions to attend to the health emergency caused by the COVID-19 virus.”
It is also indicated that those steel, cement and glass production companies that have current contracts with the Federal Government will continue to “fulfill short-term commitments exclusively for the Dos Bocas, Maya Train, Felipe Angeles Airport, Transismic Corridor projects ; as well as existing contracts considered essential for Petróleos Mexicanos and the Federal Electricity Commission ”.
Regarding messaging services, companies and electronic commerce platforms are included, as long as they comply with the extraordinary practices that have been dictated to contain the coronavirus.
Also, it is indicated that the coal mines will maintain a minimum activity that satisfies the demand of the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE).
Likewise, the coal distribution companies will maintain their transport and logistics activities to satisfy CFE demand.
