At the IAA car show in Munich in September, the German premium carmaker will bring a real gem to all high-ranking people. For years, this manufacturer has offered demanding clients the opportunity to load even a slightly different portfolio of its vehicles with the Guard attribute.
No need to guess too much about what these luxury pieces will be about. The Guard mark (translated as guardian or protection) is given to armored models resistant to attacks. After the arrival of the S-Class flagship, it was only a matter of time before her S-Guard sibling was introduced to the world.
The official name is Mercedes-Benz S 680 Guard, while the official debut will take place at the aforementioned car show. Under the hood of this armor, a six-liter twelve-cylinder petrol engine with a pair of turbochargers and a power tuned to 450 kW works. The torque is “only” at 830 Nm, which is 70 Nm less than the Mercedes-Maybach S 680 with the same unit.
Even so, it is a decent portion that will have to deal with a considerable weight of 2,350 kilograms. The help is provided by a nine-speed automatic and, for the first time, an amplified all-wheel drive 4Matic, thanks to which the novelty can then reach a maximum of 190 kilometers per hour.
