Music star COUNTRY Granger Smith spoke of his broken heart after his three-year-old son died in a "tragic accident".
The singer shared the "unthinkable news" on social media and claimed that his youngest son River Kelly Smith would be "forever in our hearts".
He told how River was unable to revive and died despite the doctors' best efforts.
Smith and his wife Amber decided to donate River's organs so other children would be given a "second chance at life".
In a harrowing phrase, the Backroad Song singer said: "I have to deliver unthinkable news.
"We lost our youngest son, River Kelly Smith.
"Following a tragic accident, and despite the doctor's best efforts, he was unable to be revived.
"Our family is devastated and distraught, but we take comfort in knowing that it is with its heavenly Father".
Smith, 39, described how his younger son was "special" and "brought joy to their lives".
"Riv was special. Everyone who met him immediately understood," he wrote.
"The joy that he brought into our lives cannot be expressed and his light will be forever in our hearts. If there are words to say more, I cannot find them at this time.
"Love those close to you. There has never been a more difficult time for us than this."
Smith's wife, Amber, also shared the harrowing news on social media and published a photo of her with her son, who had just celebrated his third birthday in May.
"Nothing can prepare a mother to deliver this kind of news", she has captioned the image.

Instead of gifts or flowers, the family asks for donations to be sent to the Dell Pediatric Medical Center on behalf of the child.
"The doctors, nurses and staff were incredible," Amber and Granger concluded both of their posts.
The couple is also the mother of their 5-year-old son Lincoln and 7-year-old daughter of London.
