A man with HIV infected a minor girl over half his age when he had sex with her, having surrounded her and her ice friend.

Noor Panjshiri picked up the 16-year-old girl near Dandenong in Melbourne in June 2017 and took her to her home, where he gave her a fourteen-year methamphetamine, the County Court listened to him on Friday.

Noor Panjshiri, who at that time realized he had been infected by HIV, had had unprotected sex with the teenager and had not told her he had the virus.

During a recorded interview, she said she was sick and not feeling well after having sex with Panjshiri and almost a month later he was diagnosed with HIV.

A doctor said it was "highly plausible" that the girl had become infected towards the end of June, about the same date they had sex.

On Friday he was convicted at the Melbourne County Court of several charges, including serious injuries caused by serious injuries and two charges of supplying a child with an addiction drug.

Panjshiri, who is also known as "Chris", did not regularly take his antiviral drugs and had a viral load that was at a "risky level," the court heard.

The offender has denied having sex with the girl and claimed to have contracted HIV from someone else.

Panjshiri has been postponed and will be sentenced later.
