At present, there are 1002 newly detected cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last seven days, 284 more than a week ago.
The worst epidemic situation is in Moravia and Silesia. In the Olomouc Region, there are 1,426 newly confirmed cases of infection in the last week per 100,000 people. There are 1277 cases in the Zlín Region and 1242 cases in the South Moravian Region. On the other hand, the Karlovy Vary region has the lowest incidence number with 341 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last week.
On Sunday, tests revealed 8,244 cases, the highest number on Sunday. On Sunday, 4,885 people with covid were hospitalized in hospitals, of which 715 were in serious condition. In the week-on-week comparison, the number of hospitalized increased by 816 and the number of serious conditions increased by 100.
Since the beginning of the epidemic, 32,173 people have died in the Czech Republic with a proven infection. 562 of them died last week, an average of about 80 a day. In the death column per day, a hundred reappeared over time. 116 people died with the covid on Thursday last week.
Since the beginning of November, there have been 1,310 deaths in the statistics so far, more than in the previous six months.
Experts consider vaccination to be the main tool in the fight against the covid-19 epidemic. Healthcare professionals have given over 13 million doses of the vaccine to people in the Czech Republic. Almost 10,700 were added on Sunday.
The labs tested about 58,500 tests on Sunday, about 6,000 more than a week ago. Despite the increase in the number of tests, the proportions of those tested increased significantly. The share of positives in the most preventive and comprehensive tests increased from 5.8 percent to eight percent. In the epidemiological indication, where people are tested, for example, for contact with the infected, the proportion of positives increased from 12.9 to 15.3 percent. The proportion of positives in the so-called diagnostic indication, when people with symptoms are already being tested, increased from less than 30 percent to 37.4 percent in a week.
Over two million cases
The first three cases of covid-19 were confirmed in the Czech Republic last March 1. By the end of 2020, the number of people infected had risen to more than 732,000. It reached one million on February 2 this year. This Sunday, it rose to 2,003,561 cases.
Since the beginning of this year, tests have confirmed infection with the new type of coronavirus in 1.27 million people. So far, 237,435 cases have been added to the statistics in November, more than in the entire period from the beginning of April to the end of October. The November daily maximum is 22,948 newly confirmed cases from last week’s Friday, which is a record number since the beginning of the epidemic. The second highest daily number, 22,509 cases, was recorded by hygienists last week on Tuesday.
