It is a tool that was eagerly awaited by professionals and by local authorities who have already massively ordered tests.
This is a question that you regularly ask us in Franceinfo live: how can I know what the serological test that I am about to do is really worth? The Ministry of Health published on its site, Thursday, May 21, the list of serological tests which have been deemed reliable by the National Reference Center. Just click on the “automated serology” and “rapid tests” tabs. These tests carried out in biological laboratories from a blood test or a drop of blood make it possible to know if a person has been contaminated by the coronavirus.

This is a list that was eagerly awaited, especially by those who have taken a test recently and by those who must submit to it soon. But also by professionals, and local authorities who have already massively ordered tests for some. If yours is not in the list, two options: either the evaluation is not finished (it remains in progress) or it is negative.
Of the thirty tests examined, only twenty-three are finally approved by the health authorities. Seven are called Elisa, that is to say that from a blood test, they can in a few hours find out if you have developed antibodies. Sixteen are rapid tests, with a result in a few minutes.
These approved tests can be prescribed by doctors and will now be reimbursed by Social Security. They will also be available for nursing staff from next week. The government has yet to clarify who else will benefit. The French National Authority for Health recommends that they be intended for French people who have had symptoms for the past few weeks and who had not been screened and for people without symptoms but who work in nursing homes or closed accommodation, like barracks. Above all, this list will make it possible to regulate “market for serological tests”. For several days, many French people have indeed rushed into biology laboratories to perform these tests, the price of which varies between 30 euros and 60 euros.
